One of my favourite books, and also personally my favourite area of interest:
"Interior Design in Latin America" brings together 28 design studios from 20 countries, from Argentina to Venezuela, from Cuba to Perú.
Author Ana Elena Mallet, one of the most influential voices in the field of Latin American design, raises big questions:
Each studio is represented with one or two examples of their work, be it residential projects, hospitality or business projects. Every designer was asked to answer questions in a short interview about their aesthetic and conceptual language, their influences and challenges.
"Interior Design in Latin America" is both a trailblazing document and a beautiful book with loads of stunning photography.
Also, with the special cover material and the printed stripes on the edge that quote the furniture of the cover image, the book is itself a conversation piece.
Thank you, teNeues Verlag, for commissioning me to work on the first idea of "Interior Design in Latin America", to find the author, to choose the strongest answers from the interviews, to negotiate rights for the historical images, and to do the design for both the cover and the pages.
I did the layout together with Michaela Fischer of Fischer+Fischer – thank you for your excellent work.
